Profit center 100002 not found in controlling area 0011

While I was trying to create sales order using VA01 transaction I got following error message when I selected sales line item material:
Profit center 100002 not found in controlling area 0011
Message no. FAGL_ORG_UNITS001

SAP users can check SAP KE53 transaction screen (Display Profit Center) using profit center and CO Area from error message displayed on order creation VA01 screen.

In my case, I realized that the Validity Period of the entry was passed. Since it was a test system, as a developer I switched to change mode or KE52 transaction screen. Using Change Validity Period button, I extended the validity period range and activated the profit center record.

To change the validity period and activating the profit center afterward helped mo solve the problem while I experienced during creation of a sales order on SAP VA01 transaction screen.
